About Me

Software engineer and open-source contributor focused on AI for code, static analysis, and programming systems. I build agentic systems and developer tools that improve code quality, reliability, and developer productivity.

I'm currently a Senior Software Engineer at Uber, building tools that automate code cleanup and review, detect bugs, and improve microservice reliability. My work combines AI agents with static analysis to help engineers maintain large codebases and ship reliable software more efficiently.

I received my Ph.D. from Penn State, advised by Dr. Danfeng Zhang and Dr. Daniel Kifer.

Experience

Uber Technologies Inc.

Senior Software Engineer — Tech Lead

AutoClean Agentic code cleanup

I led a team of engineers to build AutoClean, combining agents and static analysis to remove 1 million lines of dead code in two years. The system reduced stale flags and plugins from over 30% to below 7%, with 95%+ developer acceptance. With Stefan Heule, Diego Marcilio, Daniel Ramos, and Nikhil Parasaram.

NilAway Go nil-panic detection

[Learn More]

NilAway is a static analysis tool that detects potential crashes caused by accessing nil values in Go. I co-led its development and rollout across 70 million lines of Go, detecting 500+ potential nil panics monthly, and built an agentic system to propose and validate fixes that helped reduce reported nil panics by 80%+ in six months in one of Uber's largest organizations. With Lazaro Clapp, Julia Turcotti, and Sonal Mahajan.

RPCShield Microservice reliability

[Learn More]

I led RPCShield's inbound and outbound dependency analysis and infrastructure, identifying 1,000+ cross-tier fail-close violations in one year. This exposed cascading-failure risks and supported more efficient CPU allocation. I also expanded RPCShield's scope to power cross-organizational initiatives such as finer-grained service criticality classification. With Milind Chabbi, Sonal Mahajan, Yufan Xu, and many others at Uber.

Last Diff Analyzer Automated code review

[Learn More]

I built and deployed Last Diff Analyzer, eliminating manual review for 14%+ of code changes through automated checks for behavior-preserving revisions. I partnered with the testing team to integrate it into CI, saving thousands of testing hours weekly. With Adam Welc and Lazaro Clapp.
